2020년 6월 22일, 미국 환경보호청(Environmental Protection
Agency, EPA)는 독성물질목록에 172개
PFAS 물질을 추가*하였습니다.
* Implementing Statutory Addition of Certain Per- and
Polyfluoroalkyl Substances; Toxic Chemical Release Reporting
목록에 포함된 PFAS를 미국 내에서 100파운드 이상 제조, 가공, 사용하는 업체는 비상계획 및 지역사회의 알 권리법(EPCRA*) 제313조 및 오염방지법(PPA*) 제 6607조에 따라 연간 배출량을 EPA에 보고하여야 합니다.

상기 언급된 법률
조항은 미국 내 배출되는 화학물질의 배출통계, 독성정보, 건강에
미치는 영향에 관한 정보를 공개하여 국민들이 직접 화학물질에 대해 확인할 수 있도록 지원하는 것이 주요 내용입니다.
2020년 배출량에 관한 보고 기한은 2021년 7월 1일까지 입니다.
